This year, our school is celebrating Earth Week from April 21st to April 26th with a collection of themed days aimed at promoting environmental awareness and ways to practice sustainability. Organized by the Environmental Club, the week intertwines education and fun in a way to spread spread awareness on the struggles our planet is facing.
Each day highlights a specific theme:
Minimal Impact Monday starts the week by teaching students how to reduce their carbon footprint with a low-impact lifestyle bingo. It showcases how just a few small changes, such as turning off the lights when you leave a room, can have a big impact.
Tote Bag Tuesday encourages students to skip the plastic and bring a reusable bag instead. Reusable bags are not only more durable but help cut down on waste in landfills and oceans.
Water Bottle Wednesday reminds students of the refill stations located around campus, making reusable water bottles even more convenient than plastic ones.
Trash-Talk Thursday is up next, and it’s all about educating students on the logistics of waste disposal and the benefits of recycling, reusing, and reducing.
Flourish Friday is your chance to take a breath and take in the beauty of nature by sharing your favorite kinds of flowers. Take a chance to reflect on the diversity of our Earth.
Small Business Saturday wraps up the celebratory week by encouraging you to support local and sustainable businesses. Visiting secondhand shops, thrifting, and buying from eco-conscious brands supports not only your community but the whole planet.
Earth Week is a great opportunity to celebrate our planet and raise awareness about the environmental challenges it faces, but our commitment shouldn’t stop there. Let the themed days be a starting point in your journey to inspiring real, lasting change. Change not just for ourselves, but for generations to come.
